If you follow my twitter one thing that may come as no surprise to you is my fandom of the social DJing app turntable.fm. For those unfamiliar, the basic idea is up to five friends (or strangers) are selecting the playlist, with a song from each one being played in circuitous order. There is also the option to just hang out and listen, chat, and rate songs on a basic yes-or-no style scale. With SXSW just around the corner now, tt.fm has unveiled some incredible plans for the festival. First up is a killer party on March 10 (interactive) & again on March 15 (music) featuring AraabMuzik, ?uestlove & Flying Lotus amongst others. The folks at tt.fm have been rad enough to include us on the contest steez, so if you wanna win tickets to the March 10 show with Flying Lotus and more, just shoot an email over to email@example.com with "Decoder 3.10" in the subject line.
Last night marked the start of the Intel DJ Battle, where tt.fm power users are battling it out for the opportunity to DJ (via the app) at turntable.fm's SXSW party and win an Intel Ultrabook. Tonight is the second round of competition, with the semi-finals & finals to follow tomorrow night. You can tune in over here, and I'll be in the room for portions of today until the battle spinning some jams. The winner of the Battle will get the chance to DJ (over turntable.fm) at the interactive party; meaning they can be a part of SXSW even if they didn't make it out.
Last but certainly not least, there is also a separate contest in which turntable.fm & Pepsi will provide the winner with a VIP SXSW ticket, airfare to make it out to Austin, and even a sweet hotel setup. This is pretty much the cream of the crop for SXSW contests. You can view more details on how to win over here. We're still figuring out our SXSW plans over here at Decoder, but at least two of us will be there to shake hands and rub bellies with all you cuties that have brought us this far. See y'all in Austin!
