Coming in May: Kansas City Psychfest

Friends: they just announced the line-up for what will surely be summer 2012's most thrilling experimental music festival in all of Kansas. I encourage all midwestsiderz, reliable-transportation-owners and wanderlusters alike to block this weekend off in their electronic calendars. The line-up includes Dylan Ettinger, Expo 70 (full-band version), Plante, Sounding the Deep, Umberto, Discoverer, CVLTS, and some other great Kansas City bands like The Conquerors, South Bitch Diet, Scammers, and more. Friday May 18th - Sunday May 20th in Kansas City, Kansas. Only $21 for a three-day pass; day-passes for $11 ($8 on Sunday). The event was put together by Dedric Moore of local groups Monta at Odds and Gemini Revolution; the official press release describes it as a "multimedia festival featuring psychedelic bands, live VJs, and visual artists from the KC Metro and Midwest." I'm glad this event is being held at FOKL art space and not a vibe-crushing bar, and the live visual demonstration looks promising. Full lineup and tickets here.
Decoder readers: send me an e-mail if you intend on driving to Kansas City; I'd love to organize some kind of group-lunch. Yup. I'm that kind of dude.
