Royalty, Loyalty & Greatness

My fandom for Bajan rapper & producer Haleek Maul has been no secret as of late. I recently was turned onto RLG, or Royalty, Loyalty & Greatness, a crew co-founded by Maul and a number of friends who claim their name stands for the principles they live by. Above is a video for fellow RLG member Chuck Larry's track "Jimmy," which features Maul on the last verse. The song comes from Larry's new mixtape, The Reality Show, which just dropped this morning. Not quite as young as Maul, 18-year-old Chuck Larry has a more relaxed flow. He's the party popping off at 11 to Maul's 4am self-realization. Last Friday another rapper from the crew, also eighteen, Trizzy, dropped a new mixtape. Reflections rides the comedown wave. As the party is winding down and you start to realize it's gonna be hours before you sleep, Trizzy guides you down the boulevard as the lights all but blind you on your messy ride home. It's pretty awesome to hear so much young talent rising up in Barbados, and potentially even cooler that these forward thinking minds have found each other in their struggle to find their place in the world.
