Syracuse, NY trio Friendless Bummer recently released a batch of songs under the heading Burnout Beach Demo. All four tracks are high-spirited, fast-paced rock songs with varying tones of shoegaze, punk, and psych-garage. I particularly like "Grim", with its simple opening guitar, quickening breakdown around 1:35, and lyrics like "you smoke all my weed / 'cause you can". With all of the garage rock and summer/beach-themed references floating around these days, these guys have still managed to create songs that stand out on their own and make me want to jump around with my friends.

While we wait for a full-length from them to surface, you can download the whole demo here.
