Soundtracks for Invisibility Vol. 1: Youth Burnt While Traveling is the second tape from Austin label Holodeck Records' initial four tape offering and one we've found consistently popping back onto our radar. Smokey Emery's enchanting instrumentals and loops make this particular drone and synth opus a highly memorable listen, more playful and engaged sounding than the average "drone and synth" opus. Though it's the earliest in their cataloging system (HD001), it has the longest history of any release in the group by far, beginning life in 2003 as an "ultra limited CD-R on Kiamisha Drive . . . the imprint of one Daniel Hipolito, also known as Smokey Emery". San Francisco's own beloved Aquarius Records prompted the first and to date only repress (presumably hoping to stock the album) before Holodeck captured it in April "on the format that's most proper: tape".
